Rimando wins MLS Save of the Week

RSL 'keeper wins for stoppage time save in 1-0 win at Colorado

SANDY, Utah – Real Salt Lake Goalkeeper Nick Rimando earned his third Save of the Week honor, taking home the award for week 21.

Rimando won Save of the Week for his stoppage time save in RSL’s 1-0 win at Colorado Rapids last Saturday. The shutout was a historic one for the RSL veteran, who is now tied for the MLS all-time shutout record with retired goalkeeper Kevin Hartman at 112 career clean sheets. Rimando won easily, earning more than 59 percent of the vote to top Sporting Kansas City’s Andy Gruenebaum, Montreal’s Troy Perkins, D.C.’s Bill Hamid and Colorado’s Clint Irwin.

Rimando will have the opportunity to break the all-time shutout record on Saturday, when RSL hosts D.C. United in a 2013 U.S. Open Cup Final rematch at 8:00 p.m. at Rio Tinto Stadium. A very limited amount of tickets remain to the match, and can be purchased here.
