Wingert wins Save of the Week
SANDY, Utah - The announcement was oddly late, but there was a Save of the Week winner in MLS last week, with Real Salt Lake defender Chris Wingert picking up the honor for his chested goal line clearance in teh Claret-and-Cobalt's 4-2 loss at the LA Galaxy on Aug. 17.
Wingert won in a landslide, taking home more than 60 percent of the vote to beat out Sporting Kansas City's Jimmy Nielsen, New York's Luis Robles, Colorado's Clint Irwin and D.C.'s Bill Hamid.
Wingert is the second RSL defender to win the award and the fourth RSL player overall. Center back Nat Borchers won in Week 4, goalkeeper Nick Rimando has won it six times and backup 'keeper Jeff Attinella took it home in Week 20.
