Claret-and-Cobalt set to host LA, learn Open Cup scenarios

REAL SALT LAKE TO CONTINUE HOME STAND ON SATURDAY AGAINST LA GALAXY

Real Salt Lake (7-5-3, 24 points, West #2) will continue its lengthy home stand on Saturday, when it will host the LA Galaxy (6-5-2, 20 points, West #4) at 7:30 p.m. at Rio Tinto Stadium.

Saturday’s match will be the second meeting between RSL and the Galaxy this year. LA won the first matchup, scoring two early goals to down the Claret-and-Cobalt 2-0 at Rio Tinto Stadium on April 27.

Saturday’s match will be broadcast live on ABC4, ESPN700 and 102.3 La Gran D FM/1600 AM. ABC4 will air the 30-minute Ford Postgame Show immediately after the match; ESPN700 will air an hour-long pregame show before the game and will broadcast an hour-long postgame following the contest.

REAL SALT LAKE LEARNS IT WILL HOST POTENTIAL LAMAR HUNT U.S. OPEN CUP QUARTERFINAL

U.S. Soccer announced on Wednesday the potential pairings and match times for the 2013 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Quarterfinals. Should RSL defeat the USL Pro Charleston Battery in the tournament’s fourth-round on June 12, the club will host the winner of the Chivas USA-Carolina RailHawks matchup on June 26 at 7:30 p.m. MT at Rio Tinto Stadium.

Real Salt Lake will take on Charleston in the Open Cup fourth-round next Wednesday, June 12 at 7:30 p.m. at Rio Tinto Stadium. The Charleston match is included in the Real Salt Lake 2013 Season Ticket Package as “Bonus Game B.” RSL “PRIDE” Season Ticket Holders can purchase additional seats to next week’s match for $15. RSL GK NICK RIMANDO AND FW ROBBIE FINDLEY UP FOR MLS WEEKLY HONORS

Real Salt Lake GK Nick Rimando and FW Robbie Findley have both been nominated for MLS weekly honors for plays in RSL’s 3-0 win home win over the San Jose Earthquakes last Saturday. Rimando is up for MLS Save of the Week for his second-half stop on Quakes MF Marvin Chavez while Findley is up for MLS Goal of the Week for his stunning 38th minute strike that put RSL up 3-0.

Rimando has already won Save of the Week twice this season. This is Findley’s first Goal of the Week nomination of the year.

RSL MF JAVIER MORALES NAMED TO EA SPORTS’ FIFA 13 ULTIMATE TEAM OF THE WEEK

Real Salt Lake MF Javier Morales was named on Wednesday to the EA Sports FIFA 13 Ultimate Team of the Week for his outstanding performance on Saturday against San Jose. Morales – who scored a goal and notched an assist in RSL’s 3-0 win over the Quakes – is one of just 11 players from leagues around the world to be named a “starter” for this week’s Ultimate Team of the Week.

REAL SALT LAKE GK JEFF ATTINELLA RETURNS FROM LOAN

Real Salt Lake GK Jeff Attinella returned to RSL from a short-term loan to the NASL Ft. Lauderdale Strikers on Sunday and trained with RSL for the first time since his loan ended on Wednesday.

Attinella played in four games for the Strikers after being loaned to the second-division side on May 8, posting a 2-1-1 record, allowing five goals, notching one shutout and once earning NASL Team of the Week honors.

TICKETS FOR CONCACAF GOLD CUP DOUBLEHEADER AT RIO TINTO STADIUM ON SALE

Rio Tinto Stadium will host a CONCACAF Gold Cup doubleheader on July 13, with the U.S. taking on Cuba and Costa Rica facing Belize in Group Stage action. Rio Tinto Stadium is the only venue in the country that will host the U.S. Men’s National Team twice this summer, with the Stars-and-Stripes playing a World Cup Qualifier against Honduras at the Sandy venue on June 18 before the Gold Cup doubleheader in July.
