Rimando wins Save of the Week

RSL GK wins weekly honor for diving stop on Vancouver's Lee

Real Salt Lake goalkeeper Nick Rimando has won MLS Save of the Week!

Rimando won the weekly honor for his diving stop on Vancouver defender Y.P. Lee in the first half of RSL's 1-1 tie at Whitecaps FC last Saturday. The veteran 'keeper beat out Toronto's Joe Bendik, Dallas's Raul Fernandez, Chicago's Sean Johnson and D.C.'s Bill Hamid to win the award.

This is the first Save of the Week win of 2013 for Rimando, who won Save of the Week a league high seven times in 2012 and won 2012 Save of the Year. He had been nominated for the honor in Week 2 and Week 6 before finally winning this week. RSL defender Nat Borchers won Save of the Week in Week 4.

RSL forward Olmes Garcia placed second in the Goal of the Week voting this week, finishing behind Portland Timbers midfielder Will Johnson.

Real Salt Lake will host Chivas USA at Rio Tinto Stadium in MLS action at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday.
