RSL’s “Quick Restarts”
- RSL welcomed trialist John Owoeri into the team’s camp on Thursday, and the 25-year-old forward will be available for RSL in its second contest of the FC Tucson Desert Diamond Cup Saturday night against the LA Galaxy. The Nigerian striker last played for Egyptian side Ismaily SC, and his resume also includes the Nigerian Under-20 side’s run to the FIFA U-20 World Cup back in 2005. - Friday is a busy day both on and off the field for RSL, as the squad wrapped up a morning training session at the Kino Sports Complex before going through a different training session in the afternoon – this one involving the newer players on the squad getting put through the paces of how to work with the media. RSL color analyst Brian Dunseth and MLS reps Dan Courtemanche and Gabe Gabor will be putting the guys through the presentation, and fans should be on the lookout for Dunseth’s “ambush” of youngsters Nico Muñiz and Sebastian Velasquez that followed today’s practice late next week as part of the RSL Insider, presented by AT&T behind-the-scenes series.
- Real Salt Lake would like to congratulate RSL-Arizona Academy midfielder Jordan Allen on being named the Week 22 “Peak Performer” by USsoccer.com in its weekly “Across the Academy” feature. The talented winger has been one of two players invited to train regularly with the RSL first team during its two trips to Arizona, alongside central defender Carlos Salcedo.
