Thanks to RSL MF Javier
Morales
’ 89th minute goal in last Wednesday’s opening leg, Real
Salt Lake earned a 2-2
away draw
that put the MLS club in the driver’s seat in the aggregate
goals series. The scales might be tipped in RSL’s favor even moreso when
considering the Claret-and-Cobalt have not lost a match in 37 overall contests
at its Sandy “fortress” of Rio Tinto Stadium, a run that dates back to May of
2009.

Thanks to the even
result in Mexico, a win or either a 0-0 or 1-1 draw in Wednesday’s second
leg
will allow RSL to hoist the continental hardware. Should the match
finish 2-2 after 90 minutes, a 30-minute “mini-game” played in its entirety
will determine the winner, while kicks from the penalty spot would follow
should said mini-game not produce a victor.
