SANDY, Utah – With nine goals in MLS play and another six in the CONCACAF Champions League, Alvaro Saborio is certainly making himself known during his remarkable debut season in Major League Soccer.

With form like that, it’s no wonder the Costa Rican international is interested in staying at Real Salt Lake permanently off his loan from Swiss side FC Sion.

“I’ve spoken with my agent so that he can start to negotiate my contract,” he said. “I want to stay here. I’m very pleased with this team. I have rediscovered my form.”

Saborío’s contract with Sion expires on June 30, 2011, and he believes he will be able to reach an agreement with RSL easily.

“They are going to want to be paid for my services for the last six months,” Saborío said of what it will take to pry him away from the Swiss team. “We’ll see what this team wants to do and what they have to offer.”

In the meantime, the Costa Rica striker has made his intentions clear, putting the ball in the court of RSL general manager Garth Lagerwey and his team.

“We’re working on that,” Lagerwey said. “I hope we can be creative so that we don’t have to use a DP spot.”
