VANCOUVER – Real Salt Lake (2-3-2, 8 points, West #5) picked up a hard-earned road point on Saturday, tying Vancouver Whitecaps FC 1-1 (2-2-2, 8 points, West #4) at BC Place.

RSL FW Olmes Garcia scored his first career MLS goal in the 66th minute to put the Claret-and-Cobalt ahead, curling an absolutely gorgeous 20-yard shot into the top right corner from the left side of the box. Vancouver FW Camilo equalized in the 84th, burying a penalty kick after RSL DF Nat Borchers was whistled for an innocuous hand ball in the box.

“I like that they got better. I like that we were really under at the beginning of the game, we struggled, and rather than folding up shop and allowing a goal and could have probably multiple goals at that point, the guys stayed pretty focused. It was a pretty mature performance.  They just got better and better as the game went on…Any time you walk out of a place with a point, that’s a result and it’s that kind of result you’re going to need towards the end of the season.”
