SEATTLE – Real Salt Lake (14-9-6, 48 points, West #2) fell 2-0 at Seattle Sounders FC (15-8-4, 49 points, West #1) on Friday night, giving up two first half goals at CenturyLink Field to slip out of first-place in the Supporters’ Shield and Western Conference races.
RSL fell behind right from the jump, allowing Seattle FW Obafemi Martins to score in the third minute. Martins collected a pass at the top of the box on the left side, playing MF Andy Rose through on the left side with his first touch. Rose chipped a cross to the middle of the box, with Martins running onto it and volleying home inside the right post from eight yards out.

Thoughts on the game…
"I think it's unimportant for me to talk about the refereeing. What's more important for me is to talk about what we could've done differently and what I wanted to see our players do differently to handle the situation differently. Obviously to give away a goal three minutes in off what started as a throw in, it's not good enough. We weren't tight enough with (Obafemi) Martins. He was allowed to turn the ball basically 24 yards out in the middle of the field, switched the ball to the other side, then cross comes in and he runs in unmarked. Not good enough. Whenever you give away a goal in front of 60,000 people with a very good team like that, you're going to be in for a very difficult night. For the most part, it was a very difficult night. I honestly felt we got out-competed."
